Route Planning

Each stage now has a Google Map GPS route laid out, and a number of options for viewing. We are upgrading the route instructions stage by stage to use these, and a full screen interactive Google Map is available with which you can zoom in at out, almost down to tree top level. These can be downloaded to your watches or your PC tracking software in order to follow the route, if you have the right software interfaces.

Here is a less accurate version of the whole route – CLICK HERE. Again, its not as accurate as the stage by stage maps which are accessible from each stages specific page.

Entries

Maximum number of entries is 65 teams. 2008 entries were:

TEAMS Entered

RUNNERS Declared

Prizes

Please read the prizes page which importantly states that stage winners prizes will now be presented in the clubhouse at the end of the day. This takes pressure off the time-recorders, who have their hands full ensuring quality of time-keeping data. Please ensure that winners or team captains get to the Bath Rugby Club to collect. This page now also includes details of the ‘Kings of the Cotswolds’ prize.

Getting Lost

Please remember that there are no marshals and that your team captain is responsible for finding you.. We have had many instances of runners getting lost, and enjoy the stories every year. However its not good to be out there for hours. Runners must be aware that they protect themselves and their team captains if they follow the following simple guidelines: carry a whistle and a mobile phone with knowledge of team captain’s phone number.

Mobile Phones

Inspite of my point above, mobile phone reception is intermittent – occasionally poor and at times non-existent.  If you want to get hold of people, leave messages or SMS them, and keep moving around to find reception. In areas of poor reception batteries run flat much more quickly – ensure that your battery is in tip-top condition and fully charged.
